As we usher in the dawn of a new year, I extend my heartfelt wishes for a year that is filled with purpose, growth, fulfilment, and a collective commitment to serve our nation with excellence and integrity.

This year, 2025, is a year of immense promise and responsibility, as the foundation of a united, capable, ethical, professional and developmental state lies in the integrity and commitment of public servants.

In my address during Public Service Month last year, I emphasized that “a government that works for its people begins with public servants who are committed to their duties”- and that should remain our guiding principle as we navigate 2025.

I therefore call on each of us to recommit and to uphold the principles of Batho Pele – putting the needs of our people first in every decision, every plan, and every action while we also ensure that such actions are rooted in accountability and empathy.  Let us take pride in the roles we play, remembering that our collective efforts shape the future of our country.

As I stated again during Heritage Day: “Our individual work culture and heritage contribute to a unified environment of excellence.” Let this resonate and inspire us in all that we do in 2025, while embracing diversity and fostering unity within our departments and in our communities.

Let us seize every opportunity to make meaningful impact. Let us embrace the challenges ahead with determination while knowing that our work is the cornerstone of building a South Africa that we can all be proud of.

Let us move forward with resolve and optimism, knowing that our work lays the foundation for a developmental state. I trust in your dedication and commitment to these ideals.

Together, we can restore and enhance the trust our citizens place in us by building a capable and ethical public service that embodies the promise of a government that truly works for its people.

Happy New Year to you and your families. May this year bring us closer to our shared vision of a prosperous and a united nation. Let us continue to work with purpose, passion, and dedication to build a better future for all.
