Residents of Ward 66, Etwatwa, in the City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality in Gauteng Province, will be presented with the title deeds to their homes during a Pre-Presidential Imbizo. Public Service and Administration Minister, Inkosi Mzamo Buthelezi, will attend the event tomorrow, Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

This initiative signifies the 7th Administration’s inaugural engagement with the eastern Johannesburg residents and acts as a prelude to the Presidential District Development Model (DDM) Imbizo, set for Friday, August 23, 2024. The DDM serves as a strategic tool for planning service delivery, intended to narrow the divide between the government and its citizens. It strives to offer cohesive services and tackle challenges by drawing all tiers of government nearer to the people, thus fostering a unified method of governance.

The site visit aims to provide solutions for enhanced service delivery and to unlock socio-economic development opportunities in the region.

Minister Buthelezi, accompanied by Water and Sanitation Minister Ms Pemmy Majodina, will begin the day with a visit to the Vlakfontein reservoir. Following this, the ministers will visit a local clinic in Etwatwa to assess the implementation of the Batho Pele Principles and the clinic’s accessibility for citizens. The two Ministers will review the services provided to residents by government departments at the Stompie Skhosana Sports Ground. Residents will be able to access essential services from the Department of Home Affairs and the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA).

Ministers Buthelezi and Majodina will gather feedback from residents on their daily challenges during an Imbizo at a local Community Hall, before the distribution of title deeds.
