As part of the Integrated Public Service Month, the Department of Public Service and Administration, Home Affairs, Social Development and Health, provided services to the residents of Kai! Garib local municipality in the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality in Upington, Northern Cape.
More than 300 residents flocked to the Augrabies Thusong Service Centre where they were helped with the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) and labour related services, social security services, youth empowerment programmes, land reform and tenure services, legal aid Services, skills development and bursary applications, primary healthcare services, voter education services, government employees housing services, housing consumer education and learner enrolment and application services.
The outreach was part of Public Service Month activities and programme of action aimed at taking services to the deep rural areas across the country.
Public Service Month is a service delivery improvement mechanism that annually reflects on the work of the public service by promoting the constitutional values and principles for public administration enshrined in the Constitution.
The theme for this years Public Service Month is Batho Pele Revitalisation- Walking the Talk.
Some of the identified intervention will focus on strengthening the full optimisation of government services in Augrabies Thusong Service centre which will be highlighted during the Thusong Service Centre Week.
