The much-awaited annual national Batho Pele and Innovation Awards that seek to recognise dedicated and selfless public servants who go an extra mile in serving citizens with diligence will be held at Radisson Blue Hotel and Conference east of Johannesburg on Friday November 29, 2024.

The 2024 National Batho Pele and Innovation Awards are a culmination of rigorous selection, adjudication, and auditing processes for the nominations made by both citizens and public servants.

The awards will be conferred in the following categories:

▪ Best Front-Line Service Delivery Employee of the Year.

▪ Best Service Delivery Institution/Department.

▪ Best General Worker of the Year.

▪ Best Implemented Project of the Year.

▪ Citizen-Focused Innovative Solution Award.

▪ Innovations Harnessing Technology.

▪ Replication and Adaptation of an Innovative Solution.

▪ Overall Batho Pele Winner of the Year.

▪ Public Sector Innovator of the Year.

▪ Special Ministerial Awards.

The significance of the awards is to work towards realising the National Development Plan (NDP)’s vision 2030 of a professional, accountable and development-oriented public service, sharing of best practices as well as to gauge citizen satisfaction towards government performance regarding rendering efficient services.

In September earlier this year, South Africa marked twenty-seven years since the adoption of the Batho Pele (Putting People first) Principles and the White Paper on Transforming Public Service Delivery.

Public Service and Administration Minister, Inkosi Mzamo Buthelezi is expected to attend the awards ceremony.
