Young South Africans won multiple awards at the National chapter of the International Youth Social Anti-Corruption Adevertising Competition awards ceremony organised under the theme: “Together against Corruption!”

The Department of Public Service and Administration recognised the work of the participants of the competition through a glittering National Awards ceremony held at the Menlyn Capital Hotel a fortnight ago.

The following young South Africans were announced as the top 10 Poster Category winners:

The SA National poster category winner also achieved 3rd place at the international stage of the competitions. The results of the competition were announced recently and are already published on the website https://anticorruption.life/en/results/.

The National Poster Competition on the Code of Conduct category:

The National Poster Competition on the Code of Conduct was a category specifically designed for young people in the Public Service (40 years and below). The entrants had to develop a Poster on any of the following:

  • Adherence to the constitution on other laws of the Republic
  • Relationship with the Public
  • Ethical Conduct
  • Performance of official duties
  • Employees as candidates for elections

The competition Winners

The 1st prize went to Thomas Mphahlele from the Gauteng Department of Human Settlements, he won an Ethics Course with an accredited Institution.

The 2nd prize went to Masilonyane Ramookho from the Free State Department of Social Development, he won a week in-service training with the Unit PAEID- TAU.

The 3rd prize winner went to Fanelesibonge Ntshangase from the Kwazulu-Natal Department of Human Settlements, she won flights and accommodation for attendance of the International Anti-Corruption Day.

The South African Youth were invited to participate in the International Youth Social Anti-Corruption Advertising Competition aimed to:

  • Develop anti-corruption public education;
  • Form an intolerant social attitude towards corruption;
  • Encourage the young people to participate in corruption prevention;
  • Raise public awareness in relation to anti-corruption issues.
  • Foster interaction between society and anti-corruption institutions; and
  • Build confidence and a positive attitude in youth creative work.

Young people between the ages of 14 and 35 years were invited to design a poster or develop a video to raise awareness and express their attitudes toward corruption under the theme “Together against Corruption!”.

To take part in the Contest, an applicant had to register a personal account on the official Contest website http://anticorruption.life to upload their entries.

The Contest was held in the following categories:

  • The Best Poster
  • The Best Video

The contest’s goals are to attract young people to participate in corruption prevention, to develop and use social anti-corruption advertising to prevent corrupt practices, and to form the practice of interaction between the society and bodies engaged in the anti-corruption efforts, in the anti-corruption public education.

In addition to participants from South Africa and other states of the Interstate Council and the BRICS countries (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, India, and Russia), entries were submitted by young people from Azerbaijan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Iraq, Madagascar, Myanmar, Pakistan, Syria, and South Ossetia.
