The approved enactment of the Public Service Amendment Regulations aimed at providing clarity where interpretation challenges exist, and streamlining reporting and administrative procedures will be officially unveiled on Friday, October 27, 2023.
This comes after Public Service and Administration Minister, Ms Noxolo Kiviet approved the enactment of the Amendment Regulations with effect from November 1, 2023.
Friday’s unveiling of the Amendment Regulations will be held on a zoom webinar where Minister Kiviet is expected to deliver the keynote address.
The Amendment Regulations which will also be published on government gazette tomorrow, have removed all reporting requirements in the Public Service Regulations to alleviate the burden placed on the Corporate Services units.
The Amendment Regulations also introduce more stringent periods on the prohibition on reappointment of dismissed employees in the public service space.
The Minister will also use the event to address key aspects of the Public Service Regulations and highlight its connection to the broader professionalisation of the public service.
These regulations play a central role in raising standards, streamlining processes, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the public service.
The newly approved Public Service Amendment Regulations represent a significant stride towards building a capable and ethical public service.
It is also hoped that the regulations will further provide clarity, enhance transparency, and promote accountability.
