The Deputy Minister for the Public Service and Administration, Dr Chana Pilane-Majake led the 16th Public Sector Innovation Conference held at the Avianto Hotel, Krugersdorp, from 24 – 25 August 2022. The Annual Public Sector Innovation Conference was attended by the Acting Executive Director of the Centre for Public Service Innovation, Ms Lydia Sebokedi and different stakeholders from both the private and public sectors.
The event was held under the theme: “Building Social Innovation Partnerships for a Capable Developmental State”. In her keynote address, Deputy Minister reflected more on professionalizing the public service sector through effective innovation ideas, strategies and implementation to build a capable state with credible capacity for service delivery. “We need to build partnerships that are aligned to our theme of building social innovation partnerships for a capable developmental state. “Building capacity for our state is our prudent priority. This conference must bring up efficient and effective innovation ideas that would make a positive contribution toward a capable state”, said the Deputy Minister in her address. In addressing the importance of partnerships for innovations in the country, the Deputy Minister said “ We need to figure out what social partnerships do we need that will bring innovative solutions and systems that will bring about best service delivery and address the burning issues in our country and public service.” The Centre for Public Service Innovation, in line with its mandate of unlocking innovation in the public sector, creates a platform that exposes the public sector and its strategic partners to innovation opportunities and strategies, through sharing of related knowledge and experiences. The purpose of the conference is to sustain and further build a community of practice and encourage learning and sharing of innovative solutions. The conference targeted decision makers throughout the three spheres of government, innovation practitioners, service delivery champions as well as partners from the private sector and the academia, both locally and internationally. The conference also serves as a platform that provides thought leadership in public sector innovation. |
