Public Service and Administration Minister Ms, Noxolo Kiviet will tomorrow, Tuesday visit the Water Treatment Plant to inspect progress of the project which will provide the much-needed bulk water supply in the small town of Warrenton, outside Kimberly in the Northern Cape.
Minister Kiviet’s visit to the Frances Baard District Municipality is centred on government adopted district-based approach also known as the District Development Model (DDM) which is focusing on the 44 districts and 8 metros with the view to speed up service delivery.
The DDM, which is a revolutionary approach aimed at bringing all spheres of government closer to the people, also ensures that municipalities are properly supported and adequately resourced.
There will also be an assessment of the state-of-the-art Redirile Primary School by the Minister, leaders of the Northern Cape Provincial and local government.
The DDM is a service delivery-planning instrument that aims to respond and address some of the challenges by bringing all spheres of government closer to the people at the district level and to foster an integrated approach to governance.
This required thorough planning, coordination, collaboration, and monitoring, to ensure that government gets value for the money it spends and protects the poor and vulnerable.
The DDM, as a service delivery-planning instrument, is in line with the National Development Plan (NDP) vision 2030 strategy of engaging and including communities in their own development.
The NDP and the National Spatial Development Framework (NSDF) will remain the anchor reference points for ensuring that all three spheres of government appropriately address strategic government priorities in their respective development plans and/or sector strategies.
Districts and Metropolitan municipalities are the starting point for consolidating a better understanding of community needs.
