Public Service and Administration Deputy Minister, Ms Pinky Kekana will today, Thursday September 18, 2025, be evaluating and monitoring progress of the 7th Administration’s implementation of the District Development Model (DDM) in Mangaung, Free State.

Deputy Minister Kekana who is the National DDM Champion for Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality will embark on an unannounced visit to several frontline service points.

Adopted in August 2019 by the President’s Coordinating Council, the DDM is a service delivery-planning instrument that aims to respond and address some of the challenges by bringing all spheres of government closer to the people at the district level and to foster an integrated approach to governance.

Last Month, Deputy Minister Kekana joined Deputy President Paul Mashatile’s Clean Cities and Towns Campaign at the provincial capital.

Deputy Minister Kekana will be joined by both Local and Provincial Government leaders as this coordinated three-sphere planning is aimed at addressing the collapse of service delivery through the implementation of the DDM.

The DDM was identified as a service delivery-planning instrument that aims to respond and address some of the challenges faced by citizens by bringing all spheres of government closer to the people at the district level and to foster an integrated approach to governance.

This requires thorough planning, coordination, collaboration, and monitoring, to ensure that government gets value for the money it spends and protects the poor and vulnerable.

The DM’s oversight visit is primarily aimed at unblocking any blockages to accelerate quality service delivery in line with the DDM which also aligns to Integrated Public Service Month.

This month, the Department of Public Service and Administration has been visiting several communities across the country to assess facilities and the conduct of public servants in rendering the quality of services to citizens.

This is done as a reminder to public servants about the importance of adhering to the Batho Pele Principles and the Public Service Charter as part of Integrated Public Service Month. September is marked annually to recognise public servants who are serving citizens with pride.
