Government pension fund urges unclaimed benefit claimants to come forward
The Government Employee Pension Fund (GEPF) is urging family members or beneficiaries who have not claimed or received their pension benefits to come forward and claim them.
Unclaimed benefits refer to benefits that remain unpaid to the member or beneficiary within 24 months of the member’s last day of service, even when the reason for the member’s departure from the fund and the last day of service is known and in accordance with the fund’s rules.
The following individuals are eligible to claim unclaimed benefits:
– Retired GEPF members and members who are no longer in service.
– Beneficiaries of GEPF members who are no longer in service or who have passed away.
– Guardians of GEPF members’ beneficiaries.
To access unclaimed benefits, the following documents are required:
– Completed Banking Details form (Z894), available on the GEPF website.
– Certified copy of the applicant’s ID (not older than six months).
– Updated personal details on the Z864 form.
If the applicant is a beneficiary, the following additional documents are required:
– Member’s death certificate.
– Certified copy of the beneficiary’s ID (not older than six months).
– Guardian letter for minor beneficiaries.
– Certified copy of the guardian’s ID (not older than six months).
