{"id":5610,"date":"2026-09-11T14:45:48","date_gmt":"2026-09-11T12:45:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dpsa.gov.za\/thepublicservant\/?p=5610"},"modified":"2026-09-11T14:45:50","modified_gmt":"2026-09-11T12:45:50","slug":"dpsa-gearing-up-to-equip-2nd-cohort-of-kzns-senior-managers-with-pvg-skills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dpsa.gov.za\/thepublicservant\/2026\/09\/11\/dpsa-gearing-up-to-equip-2nd-cohort-of-kzns-senior-managers-with-pvg-skills\/","title":{"rendered":"DPSA gearing up to equip 2nd cohort of KZN\u2019s senior managers with PVG skills"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Department of Public Service and Administration is gearing up to equip the second group of senior and middle managers of the Kwazulu-Natal provincial government with skills to lead change, strengthen governance and improve service delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DPSA\u2019s Acting Deputy Director-General for Government Service Access Improvement (GSAI), Dr Patrick Sokhela said the 3-day training of the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> cohort of the Public Value Governance (PVG) will kick off on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Provincial Training Academy in Durban.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Sokhela has been instrumental in the implementation of the Managing Change and Public Value Governance programme that places public value at the heart of governance with the view to build a more responsive, ethical and citizen-centred government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Dr Sokhela, the purpose of the PVG programme is to serve as the continental PVG programme for Senior Management to Institutionalise the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) and Open Government Partnership (APRM- OGP) principles and values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Public Service Month<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In South Africa, September marks Public Service Month (PSM) an integrated national programme led by the DPSA with core goals to improve service delivery, strengthen public service capacity and to rebuild public confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The theme for this year\u2019s PSM is: <em>&#8220;Professionalising the Public Service to Build Trust and Restore Confidence in Government&#8221;.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PSM&nbsp;is an integrated strategic national event in the calendar of the DPSA and public service, as such all spheres of government are required to participate through putting in place activities and campaigns to take service delivery to a higher productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;As part of the Public Service Month, public servants are expected to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Roll up their sleeves and spring clean their service delivery points;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visit schools, hospitals, police stations and courts, talk to citizens, mediate the delivery of services and get things done;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unblock the bottlenecks and red tape in the delivery of services;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The three-day Managing Change and Public Value Governance training programme will wrap up on Thursday, September 17, 2026. &nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Public Service and Administration is gearing up to equip the second group of senior and middle managers of the Kwazulu-Natal provincial government with skills to lead change, strengthen governance and improve service delivery.
