Professionalisation and ethical conduct in the public service is key, says Public Service and Administration Deputy Minister, Dr Chana Pilane-Majake during her closing address at the BRICS pre-summit conference on governance and public administration reform on Wednesday.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr Pilane-Majake told delegates who attended the 3-day BRICS pre-summit conference that they must continue to strive towards building accountable, ethical, capable developmental public service in their countries.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This, she said will help them to realise their developmental goals and will be able to decisively deal with corruption in their countries.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cProfessionalisation and ethical conduct in the public sector is key, Most Importantly consequence management must be possible\u2013as has been raised in the deliberations.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis pre-summit conference provided a platform for discussion matters that are key for the BRICS bloc, which relate to urban green development, energy renewal including disaster and risk management.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis remains crucial for the BRICS countries and the African continent. I am also pleased with the partnership with the OECD, from whom we received an insightful presentation on the future of schools of government,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Deputy Minister said this remains ever so important in the global context of public sector reforms and in particular the future of the public service. \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr Pilane-Majake also re-iterated that the significance of BRICS partnership in supporting South Africa and the African continent\u2019s journey towards economic recovery post-COVID is paramount, adding that withing BRICS, Africa will also rise.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The National School of Government of South Africa is partnering with the University of Pretoria to peer-review all the papers presented at the conference, with the view of publishing them.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The conference brought together government departments and training and development institutes from the BRICS bloc and related countries.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
