Project and Programme Management Learning Network
Background
A need has been identified to establish a learning platform for people who are involved in project and programme management. This will provide an opportunity for them to share frustrations, methodologies and solutions within the field of project managemen, presentations and discussions on project management challenges and issues.
Purpose of the Network
The purpose of the network is to advance professional project management through providing a platform for the following objectives:
- A collegial and objective discussion of project management learning issues to help professionals stay abreast of developments in the field of project management
- Encourage discussion and debate that contributes to the project management knowledge base
- Sharing and exploring issues of common interest and concern within project management
- Identify areas for potential collaboration to find solutions around management of projects
- The network is not meant to share solutions within specific areas of activity e.g. roads industry, social development, hospitals, etc. but to provide project managers with knowledge for application in managing projects across fields, across sectors. The content of the Network will be project management and to that effect will bring together people from a variety of fields – brought together by a common denominator, that is, their ‘project management’ involvement. Case studies will be used for purposes of sharing experiences within the field of project and programme management. To that effect, the network will support other Networks which are content specific and within which people are grappling with project management.
Launch - 8 August 2002
