e-Government Learning NetworksImproving Service Delivery through the use of Mobile Technology and Online servicesDate: 21 May 2007Venue: CSIR Convention Center, Pretroria The Public Service transformation agenda envisions a responsive public service that delivers on the government’s commitment for a better life for all. It is a Public Service that is principled on service to the people. It is people-centric and central to it is service delivery improvement. Service delivery is a function of many and varied factors and as such, its improvement should be driven by a multifaceted and multidimensional task. This challenge requires in turn an intervention strategy that addresses these factors. E-Government is one such intervention that is considered a key enabler of service delivery improvement. South Africa has adopted a pragmatic hybrid e-Government approach with centralized and decentralized implementation features. This has resulted in uneven e-government development within government institutions. This e-Government Learning Network provides a platform to share egovernment best practices and to showcase initiatives and projects. The theme for this Learning Network is Service Delivery Improvement through the use of SMS technology and online services. ProgrammeProgramme Director : Ms Thuli Radebe
