Overview

Prof Jerry Kuye of Pretoria University gave an overview of the three challenges.

  • Challenge 1: Building a unified system of public administration
  • Challenge 2: Achieving the goals of a developmental state through strategic partnerships
  • Challenge 3: Making integrated programmes work

According to him this conversation was an eye opener. The presentations varied from academic to practical presentations and each one had substance.

Some of the issues that were raised:

  • Political leadership
  • Governance imperatives
  • Well constructed and thought out plans
  • Making integrated plans work
  • What leadership skills are needed to govern a unified system of public administration that will attract new partners and new thinking?
