Service Delivery Watch
Unannounced site visits project briefService Delivery Watch was conceived as a result of the Batho Pele revitalization strategy approved by Cabinet in 2003. Through Service Delivery Watch unannounced site visits government seeks to improve service delivery by identifying areas of deficiency in delivering services to our citizens. The focus of unannounced site visits will therefore be on both internal and external clients, this being public service officials and citizens who are recipients of the public services. It is through this project that political office bearers will demonstrate not only the seriousness with which service delivery is viewed but also provide support and encouragement to the public servants who are very crucial in delivering services to the people. Our proposal on Service Delivery Watch entails the involvement of Ministers, Premiers, MEC's and Municipal Mayors (who are currently involved in coordinating Izimbizo) in visiting various service delivery points and assessing the state public services provision. To ensure that unannounced site visits get implemented with ease and clear way for follow up and improvement the DPSA through its unit Government Internal Consulting Services (GICS) developed templates for capturing observations during the site visits. Information from these templates will then be collated into a report that will provide recommendations on interventions to be applied with a view of addressing service delivery challenges at the coalface. |
