Deputy Minister urges for quality public service delivery

Deputy Minister for Public Service and Administration, Ms Ayanda Dlodlo has stressed the important responsibility that public servants have in providing quality service to the people.

The Deputy Minister was making official opening remarks at the 15th annual Public Service Training Forum Conference in Mangaung, Bloemfontein.

She said the conference was helping refocus attention to the fundamental basics of public service whereby public servants were required to provide service in a manner that is responsive to the needs of citizens.

"Public servants are required to always provide services impartially, professionally, effectively, efficiently and in a coordinated way in accordance with our country's developmental agenda which we have been pursuing since the dawn of democracy," the Deputy Minister said.

Opened on Monday and themed "Human Resource Development at the Centre of Service Delivery: Unleashing the Cheetah" the conference's purpose is to explore strategies of transforming public servants into enablers of effective service delivery, to engage on the contribution of human development towards new growth path initiatives in government in order to examine the dynamics and challenges facing Human Resource Development and its impact on service delivery in the context of globalisation.

About 650 delegates from various departments, including Public Administration Leadership and Management Academy (PALAMA) and the Free State provincial government departments are attending the gathering.
