Minister conducts Organizational Development Design Principles in Free State

Date: 21 Jul 2011

Minister for Public Service and Administration Mr Masenyani Richard Baloyi today conducted the ongoing Organisational Design Principles and Process (ODP) in the Free State.

The presentation is a continuation of the Minister's nationwide series of the seminars that seek to bring uniformity in the public service in terms of the creation of posts, responsibilities, accountability and reporting lines amongst others.

The workshoping of Premiers and Members of the Executive in the provinces have been taking place since November 2010.

In his opening remarks the Minister said the state may have good policies but if departments and provinces are not well organized, implementation would always be disorganized.

"We may have the well oiled machinery but if we are not well structured we will always malfunction operationally. Legislation including the Constitution itself, the Public Service Act (PSA), the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) to mention but a few, demand that we operate in a coordinated way in a unitary state".

The roadshow has already covered seven provinces and the Minister is scheduled to visit the two remaining provinces which are Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal.
