DPSA IN THE MEDIA: Community Development Workers Conference

President Jacob Zuma, Minister for Public Service and Administration, Ms Lindiwe Sisulu, and other Ministers are among speakers lined up to address delegates at the upcoming Community Development Workers national conference.

The CDWs are one of the Government's vital strategic service delivery vehicles, and the two-day national conference aims at enhancing citizens' access to state services.

CDWs are a special category of public servants that ensure service delivery access to everyone by directly engaging with communities and determine what services they need.

President Zuma is expected to speak on the role of CDWs pertaining to Government Priorities as emanating from the State of the Nation Address.

Minister Sisulu will scrutinise the CDWs' role in public participation and service delivery, while Minister Pravin Gordhan will talk about the impact of global economic outlook on Government priorities, challenges and allocation of funds.

Minister Trevor Manuel is scheduled to take delegates through the National Development Plan's Vision 2030.

Among topics to be deliberated by delegates are among others: How Government can improve service delivery through technology; Understanding how Government communicates and ; How to be an effective public sector communicator.
