Rationale of the conference
To enrich public servants with knowledge on how to enable people-centred innovation in the public service.
Sub themes
Taking into consideration the theme of people-centred innovation, three sub-themes will be explored and debated thorough break-away commissions:
1. Citizen convenience
The presenters and delegates will discuss issues that relate to innovation towards convenience in accessing public services, taking into consideration costs (sometimes prohibitive for the less fortunate citizens), time, consultation and understanding citizens' needs. Practical examples will be presented and explained
2. Processes and innovation
This subtheme looks ICT and non-ICT innovation towards improving service delivery processes. This two-pronged subtheme also examines the positive impacts of appropriate ICT and other innovations on processes.
3. Service delivery technology innovation
The presenters and commission will discuss the role of technology in delivering public service. Sectoral case studies, where technology has been innovatively used will be discussed with the view to replicate these innovation in other sectors of the public service.
Targeted delegates
The targeted delegates are public servants across the ranks with a strong interest in innovation and service delivery. Non-governmental organisations, community-based organisations, private sector organisations and academics are also welcome to attend.
The speakers will include senior politicians, including the Minister for Public Service and Administration, international and local experts and public sector innovators.
